success starts with believing in yourself

"More enduringly than any other sport, wrestling teaches self-control and pride. Some have wrestled without great skill – none have wrestled without pride."  - Dan Gable

PURPLE DRAGONS COACH

                                                 Zach Robinson and Collin Hushagen

Zach Robinson and Collin Hushagen are both graduates from Johnston High School and former wrestlers at Johnston HS.  Zach and Collin made a combined three trips to the state wrestling tournament, during their careers, and Collin became a two time state place winner.  Collin continued his wrestling beyond Johnston at Northern State University in South Dakota, before injuries ended his competitive career.  Both wrestlers were prime examples of how important “the process,”  of hard work, academics, and coachability, is to development, and success within our Johnston wrestling program.

Coach Robinson and Hushagen were not just successful wrestlers, but ideal role models and community members.  Both are college graduates, and Coach Robinson is currently a special education teacher at Summit Middle School in Johnston.  He is also married and a father of a new little one!  Collin recently graduated from Iowa State University, and also resides and works in Johnston.

We are excited to have both of these young men, with Johnston Dragon roots, helping shape and mold our PreK-2nd grade wrestlers at the JWC!
